Best Beginner Tips & Tricks — Set Up A Honey Farm Early!

Set up a honey farm early — flowers naturally produce honey over time, and you can interact with sparkles above flowers to collect it. Use Electric-type Pokémon or structures like windmills to generate electricity for powering lamps and electrical items. The game syncs with your Switch 2's real-time clock, so different Pokémon appear at different times of day and construction timers run in real time.

Flower fields in Pokémon Pokopia

Honey is used for everything in Pokopia: luring Pokémon back to their habitats, cooking recipes, crafting materials, and even some quest requirements. Flowers naturally produce honey over time — when it's ready, you'll see sparkles above the blooms. Interact with them to collect it.

Plant a row of at least 10 flowers near your main base. Wildflowers are cheapest and work fine. Within a few in-game days, you'll have a steady honey supply. Upgrade to Seashore and Mountain flowers later for higher-quality honey that produces better cooking results.

Use Electric Pokémon for Power

Many structures in Pokopia require electricity: lamps, conveyor belts, automatic doors, and kitchen appliances. The easiest way to power them is with Electric-type Pokémon like Pikachu, Magnemite, or Voltorb. Assign them near electrical structures and they'll keep them running.

Alternatively, build windmills or waterwheels for passive power generation that doesn't require Pokémon. These are especially useful for remote outposts where you don't want to station Pokémon permanently.

Understand the Real-Time Clock

Pokopia runs on your Switch 2's system clock. This means: nocturnal Pokémon (Zubat, Hoothoot, Murkrow) only appear at night, construction completes in real-time hours, crops grow even when you're not playing, and some events are time-limited.

You can sleep in your house to advance time by 6-hour increments if you're waiting for something specific. But be aware that sleeping doesn't skip event timers — limited-time events still run on real-world dates.

Don't Sell Materials Early On

It's tempting to sell excess Lumber and Stone for Life Coins, but resist the urge. Almost every material is used in multiple recipes, and you'll kick yourself later when a quest requires 50 Stone and you sold your surplus. Hoard everything for the first 10 hours, then sell selectively once you understand what's abundant.
